Road Tubes, Hi-star Counters, or Miovision Cameras are placed across the roadway for 24 hours. Traffic volume, vehicle classification, and vehicle speed data are gathered.
The data, along with GPS data points are collected in the field. The data is reviewed and compiled into a database for submittal to IDOT. At the end of each collection year, Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) data collected is posted to IDOT’s website Getting Around Illinois.
